Luis Moniz is an executive and career coach focussed on developing senior management executives, across sectors and job functions, since 2010. He brings to bear his strong track-record of corporate leadership experience for over two decades and deep understanding of the talent acquisition space gained as a C-Suite executive search professional for six years into his coaching engagements.

After completing his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Luis spent the early part of his career in the finance function of manufacturing companies and moved to the financial services sector in the mid-1980s when he joined 20th Century Finance, a leading equipment leasing company. Over the four years in that role, Luis developed innovative equipment financing methods and led the team that managed corporate client relationships.

He moved to Standard Chartered Bank in 1989 to start-up their M&A advisory activity. M&A advisory was at a nascent stage in India at that time and Luis successfully advised several transactions across industry sectors during his seven-year stint in that role. He joined Banque Nationale de Paris in 1996 to head their investment bank in India. He spent six years in the GCC region between 1998 and 2004 where he was part of the top management team at a start-up bank in Oman and then headed the international businesses of a regional bank in Bahrain.

Luis returned to India in 2004 and decided to make a career switch into CXO level executive search. He joined Heidrick & Struggles, where he built their financial services and private equity practices in India and then maintained a strong presence in the market over the next five years. He spent a year heading Russell Reynolds? Mumbai office prior to setting up his coaching practice. He completed several Board, CEO and other C-suite level assignments for multinational and Indian clients in both these roles.

Luis set up his coaching practice, FrontRunner Career Advisors, in 2010 where he focuses on working with corporate leaders who either engage him personally or through their employers. He has worked with hundreds of clients since then, where the engagements are focused on his clients establishing themselves as top performers by stretching their professional aspirations, changing their self-beliefs, expanding their sphere of influence and inculcating more effective behaviours.

Luis was empanelled by INSEAD (2011 to 2016) and Wharton (since 2013) to coach participants of their leadership programmes in India. He has run career workshops and webinars for CFA Institute and has conducted specialized programs on Workplace Coaching & Mentoring Skills, Training of Mentors and Competency Based Talent Selection Techniques. Luis has also been involved in assessment of culture and high-potential talent in corporate organizations.

Luis was the founder President of the Association of Mumbai Coaches (from 2012 to 2016) and was on the managing committee till mid-2018. He devotes a lot of pro-bono time in the non-profit social sector, where he heads Whiteboard Mumbai, an NGO advisory initiative and has coached several senior management executives at various NGOs. Luis co-leads Take Charge, a pro-bono initiative to mentor teenaged youth in Mumbai. He was Vice President of the Mumbai Chapter of IIM Ahmedabad Alumni Association from 2013 to 2016.

He is the author of ?Uncornered ? Learnings from the corner office?, a book on sustaining professional success in this turbulent environment. Luis identified strategies that are effective in the new career paradigm based on his experience for over a decade as a headhunter and coach. He then interviewed over 40 highly successful professionals, across industry sectors and job functions, to capture their perspectives, stories and learnings in his book. The overriding theme for the book is to remain uncornered at all times so that we take charge of our careers and proactively create credentials for possible next-level roles. The book has been published by Bloomsbury and Business Standard Books and is available in leading book shops as well as online.

Luis is a certified coach having completed the International Coach Federation accredited coach training program of the NeuroLeadership Group (formerly Results Coaching Systems), Australia in 2009 and several advanced level programs subsequently. He is certified by Lominger International (now part of Korn/Ferry) to administer their 360-degree feedback tool since 2013 and is also a certified MBTI ? Step II practitioner since 2013.

Luis holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad (1978) and an M.S. in Finance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1981)
