As the Founder of Gay Bombay and The Hugging Club of India, and Co-Founder of Mr n Mr—India’s first gay matchmaking platform—Umang has empowered thousands to embrace their identity with dignity and pride. Since 1998, he has built safe spaces that support coming out, emotional healing, and conversations around sexuality and self-worth. His community work spans counseling, awareness campaigns, and inclusive events that tackle issues like suicidal ideation, chemsex, and substance abuse. Recognized by the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s Office for his grassroots impact, Umang also drives change through social media, storytelling, and workshops for corporates and communities alike.
