Amit is a specialist IP, Policy and corporate commercial lawyer with over 20 years of work experience in assisting large Indian and Multinational organisations, operating in the Life Sciences, Technology and Broadcasting sectors, navigate issues that operate on the intersection of law and policy and impact business certainty and continuity. Amit holds a LLM degree in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick and is admitted to the Rolls of Solicitors of England & Wales and as an Advocate of Bar Council of India. Amit has been recognized by industry peers with ?Outstanding Leadership Excellence- Inhouse? and as ?Rising Star- 40 under 40? awards. Amit currently leads the India and APAC legal function at Lupin which is a publicly listed transnational pharmaceuticals business with ~ USD 3 billion+ in revenues. Before joining Lupin, Amit was working with UFO Moviez (I) Ltd., responsible for leading the Legal & Company Secretarial teams for all group entities and businesses of UFO. Amit has also worked with Monsanto. Amit managed over 300 active IP, Regulatory and commercial litigation across the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, specialist tribunals, consumer forums and district courts across India, including a few matters in the Supreme Courts of Nepal and Pakistan. Amit was also the lead counsel on various business collaboration agreements involving Germplasm and Trait / Technology licensing. Amit led efforts to ensure multi stakeholder positions were represented before the Supreme Court of India in a matter relating of regulation of Genetically Modified crops in India. Amit led numerous high stakes, complex litigation involving unprecedented issues involving questions of technical Interoperability standards, Interconnection between service providers, broadcast content acquisition from vertical integrated competitors and content Tariff regulation. Amit represented Tata Sky?s interests and managed relationships at various ministries, regulators and government departments such as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal, Department of Telecommunications, Department of Space, Bureau of Indian Standards etc. Amit drafted complex position papers to regulatory consultation papers in areas of Broadcasting & Satellite Communications. Amit has conducted training sessions for Mumbai police and custom authorities on Copyright laws and worked closely with the management teams of various Hollywood Studios to implement copyright enforcement solutions in India. In the past, Amit has also worked with Reliance Broadcast Network.
