Why Running After Money May not be Best Idea for Your Mind, Body and Soul

What is best for your mind, Body and soul (2)

The human race is geared completely towards achieving materialistic and financial gains.  Training for this achievement begins from a baby’s crib, through the mindset and attitudes of primary care givers of the child. Success is measured in terms of the bank balance a person has or the car they drive or where they live and where they go on vacations.

Or so we think.

This development in our evolution is not new. It has been prevalent for thousands of years with accelerated growth during the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. By the time it was the 21st century, the thirst for materialistic growth had become so encompassing that it consumed the human mind in totality.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with pursuing financial and material success. Money and status are one of the most uplifting elixirs of life. The power and excitement an upwardly mobile human feels is exhilarating and indescribable.

However, the accompanying traits of greed, anger, hate, jealousy, stress, unhappiness, intolerance and total devaluation of innate values such as empathy and compassion have become staple ingredients to achieve this success.

We have intrinsically succeeded in cutting ourselves off from our intuitive traits of respect, forgiveness, togetherness, love, compassion with our fellow humans and everything on this earth.

In our quest to leave a mark on the face of this world, we have systematically embarked on a journey towards the destruction of our instincts, and our inner and outer world – a world which is directly connected with the cosmic universe, which in turn is directly connected with each and every cell of each and every human being.

If you observe the animal kingdom, you will notice that the animals are completely tuned in to their natural instincts. They wake up at sun rise and sleep at sun set. All of them eat only when necessary, they do not need to process any food, they procreate only when it is time, they attack another only when threatened, they can smell and hear things miles away, they can sense the coming of a natural disaster, they know when it is time to migrate, they know which route to take to migrate. Nobody taught them to do any of these things. They act on intuition. It is ingrained in their DNA.

On the other hand, we humans have gone so far away from our inbuilt intuition, that we now have only the flight or fight reaction operating predominantly within ourselves. The adage survival of the fittest has honed our talent to mostly fight for what we desire. And in the process of creating our identity, the Me, Myself and I syndrome has gone so far so as to completely alienate ourselves from our own mind, body and soul.

Now, you might say that you are taking care of your mind and body. You are making yourself mentally stronger, you are trying to eat and drink right. However, ask yourself this. On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy and stress-free are you? How well do you handle challenges in your life? How good are your relationships at home, at office, with your colleagues and the community?

Did your answers give you a reality check?

The only way out for you to become happy and stress-free all your life, even as you go about seeking materialistic success and remain connected with other people, is to connect yourself with your soul. You need to go back to your fundamental roots, not the ancestral ones, but the roots which make you human. You need to embark on a journey of self-discovery, gain access to your soul and connect yourself with the Cosmic Universe. You need to learn to navigate life skillfully, learn to ride the ups and downs and various challenges of your life effectively. Once you have done so, you will be able to access the vast abundance this universe has in store to give you.

Ideally, this process should begin from the crib. However, it is not late for you. You can begin your journey to connect with your soul at any time, starting right now.

So, what are you waiting for?
