He tries to greet each customer in their own mother tongue. “Communication is the key to every customer”, he says.

On being asked about the medical talent in India, he says “As far as the medical talent is concerned and technology is concerned, we are at par or even better than any other hospitals in the world. I am very sure soon India will be one of the leaders in the subcontinent and also in the world because we can already see foreigners pouring in for treatment here in great numbers. That itself is a symbol of our medical expertise.”

2: Abhijit Banerjee

Abhijit Banerjee is an Indian-American economist, who is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Banerjee shared the 2019 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer “for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty”.

Expressing concern over the slowing growth of the Indian economy, Abhijit Banerjee said that the government should make policies that work and not policies that they imagine will work. “I think there is always a little bit of a willingness in India to announce a policy because they sound good or they have a political purpose. The general message is you should carefully evaluate them, understand whether the policy works or not, and take it from there. Even now I think it is not that the policies are evaluated based on accepted criteria and looked at as an option. Pradhan Mantri says it happens. That style of thinking is partly what we are resisting,” he said.
