Prior to Innov8, he co-founded Adstuck Consulting Pvt. Ltd., where they built Alive app in JV with Times of India Group. He sold the Alive App to The Bennett and Coleman Group (Times of India) in 2013, and has been instrumental in building of the Make in India thought process. Talking about start-ups in India, he says “The beauty of entrepreneurship is that this is the only profession in the world where you make money by making mistakes and learning from those. I always say change and failures are the most profitable phenomenon.”
Annadurai aka Auto Annadurai, a Class 12 dropout, whose passion for his profession and the desire to give the best amenities for his customers has brought him success in good measure. This auto driver from Chennai is now a much-sought speaker on ‘building customer loyalty’ with nearly 10,000 followers on Facebook and more than 40 speeches at corporate offices and two TED talks to his credit. 32-year-old Annadurai runs his “amazing auto” which is equipped with top-notch facilities like WiFi, mobile charging point, magazines, newspapers, TV, laptop, and tablets. He tries to greet each customer in their own mother tongue. “Communication is the key to every customer”, he says.
3: Dr. Pradeep Chowbey
Dr. Pradep Chowbey belongs to the cadre of the pioneer laparoscopic surgeons in India. One of the first to perform Laparoscopic cholecystectomy in North India, he has graphed his career with singular determination to develop, evaluate and propagate Minimal Access, Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery in India. His Institute at Max Healthcare is the First Centre to receive the Center of excellence accreditations in India for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, Hernia surgery by Surgical review Corporation, USA (2010). On being asked about the medical talent in India, he says “As far as the medical talent is concerned and technology is concerned, we are at par or even better than any other hospitals in the world. I am very sure soon India will be one of the leaders in the subcontinent and also in the world because we can already see foreigners pouring in for treatment here in great numbers. That itself is a symbol of our medical expertise.”
2: Abhijit Banerjee
Abhijit Banerjee is an Indian-American economist, who is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Banerjee shared the 2019 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer “for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty”.
Expressing concern over the slowing growth of the Indian economy, Abhijit Banerjee said that the government should make policies which work and not policies which they imagine will work. “I think there is always a little bit of a willingness in India to announce a policy because they sound good or they have a political purpose. The general message is you should carefully evaluate them, understand whether the policy works or not and take it from there. Even now I think it is not that the policies are evaluated based on accepted criteria and looked at as an option. Pradhan Mantri says it, it happens. That style of thinking is partly what we are resisting,” he said.
