To all the women who have decided to dream on, let’s fly high until we reach the sky with our heads held high.

Digital India

Honestly, Indian society largely is dominated by men. As a counter-attack; Indian women have been arming themselves with the skills and knowledge to get ahead in a man’s world. One of our secret tools is the internet!

Digital India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the campaign, ‘Digital India’ to ensure the Government services are made available to citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure. Through this, Prime Minister aims to transform our nation and creating opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies.

Well, sorry to tell you this but only 29% of women use internet technology.

Digital India has somehow countered the problems of women but according to statistics, there is a different story. In our homeland, men use digital to prepare for and find work more frequently than women. You might be interested to know that when women and men have the same level of digital proficiency, women are better at leveraging it to find work.

What we don’t understand is that leadership doesn’t come from the gender of a person but the leadership qualities he or she upholds.

Having the internet has done wonders for an online community where women from different areas speak their heart out. Women who want to start a career or who have taken a break have been profited from digital India.

Sadly, a country like ours which is growing incredibly fast still fails to address the difference between the leadership roles between men and women. Fact alert,

‘India ranks third lowest in having women in leadership roles for the third consecutive year’

Women are given only 17% of leadership roles as compared to men. Only 7% of the senior management (CEO/ Managing Director) roles are held by women in India.

The digital divide

The digital divide is not simply a question of access to digital technologies but about know how to make meaningful use of access to technology. In urban India, almost every person is howsoever dependable on technology, literacy rates are high and social norms are less rigid.

By leveraging technology and providing internet at a cheaper price, we can create new opportunities every day. There’s an expansion of the digital economy in our country. Over the past twenty years, women enrollment has increased to 45% from 5% in the IT sector.

The Internet has acted as a toolbox to learn things, gain access to education and flourish ideas from different parts of the world.

Education is now not restricted in the hands of few.

We are a part of a start-up which is the brain idea of a woman. We have seen how mindfully and single-handedly the work is done and there’s nothing stopping intelligent ideas or genuine talent. We as women need to build ourselves as an individual, protect ourselves as family, enrich ourselves with knowledge and grow ourselves as humans. After all, we run the world!
