So Janmashtami is the day when divine bliss became manifested. This divine joy was always present, but it is on this day that it became evident (in the form of Lord Krishna). Reflected in all things, Krishna is harmony. Krishna, the Lord of love, and the beloved of all, reveals the treasure stored in the heart of every living being. This hidden wealth is the ‘fulfillment’ gained through genuine love and peace of mind.

According to Bhagavata Purana, the Mother Earth prayed to the Creator Brahma to relieve her of the burden of miscreant kings.

Brahma then appealed to Vishnu to descend in order to defend the dharma, or the righteousness, harmonious living. Their prayers were answered when Lord Krishna was ‘born’.

In today’s world, we often face the battle between the ‘Good’ and the ‘Evil’ in our mind. Should we be honest in our business dealings or should we use unethical shortcuts, should we be loyal in our relationships, should we give in to immortal temptations or limit our desires, should we think positively or negatively, the list is endless.

In this Crisis, We need to give ‘birth’ to Krishna again. That is our self-consciousness and our power of soulful righteousness. With so much exposure to education and knowledge today, we are well-equipped to rekindle our dignified conscience to fight ‘evil’ so ‘good’ may prevail.

Let us give ‘birth’ to our inner ‘Krishna’, our inner goodness and our power of rational thinking and virtuous behaviour today and let’s celebrate Janmashtami for a brighter, healthier and peaceful present and future.

——-

“It’s all in the mind..

it’s all in the jungle of dreams..

dozens of crushed ones..

bizarre opinions of satire..

Awakening for a new soul..

conquering the ‘dvandva’ – duality…

I shall rise…”

Lord Krishna signifies ‘Ananda’ or bliss, pure happiness.
